Our first day in San Francisco was very sunny. And after a very short night with a jetlag and a jetlagbaby we decided to explore the city by foot.
We first had some breakfast at the Duboce Park Cafe just around the corner of our Airbnb. Afterwards we decided to walk to the Golden Gate park via Haight Street. Haight street is a trendy street with lots of cool shops & a lot of hippie-commercialized shops.
The Golden Gate park is a massive green park in the middle of the city. When we were walking in the park we realized how much space there is ‘still’ left in America, compared to our small country Belgium. :)
From the Golden Gate Park we thought it would be ok to walk from there to the Golden Gate Bridge, but after 8 blocks we discovered it was just way to far. :)
(San Francisco is really big!!!) We arrived in another park named Presidio and decided to go back to California street and look for some lunch before we would head home again.
We end up eating at Café Rigolo, an american restaurant inspired by the French cuisine. (No really it’s not a joke…)
After our very late lunch we went back to our appartement and had a -way to long- afternoon nap. (5pm-9pm) We had to drag ourselves out of bed, but we had to, since it was New Years eve that night!!! :) San Francisco has one of those -don’t-want-to-miss- fireworks to celebrate the old/new year. So we really had to go & we did. (And we’re really happy we did!)
With a sleeping Beau we took the bus to the Ferry building and we walked to Pier 14 to check the fireworks. Afterwards we were all so tired that ‘celebrating the new year’ felt like a to-do item for later this year.
