The interiors of girlbosses - Chapter I: Sofie Piot.

Today I payed a visit to the creative entrepreneur Sofie Piot, the handy woman & talented ‘refurbishment’ queen that owns a vintage webshop named Atelier Recycle.

Sofie has a big country-side-style-home in Tremelo, Belgium with a lot of space & light.  She has two children and an accountant as husband. (Handy!!!)

In her home she likes to combine the Scandinavian style with second hand pieces, creative elements & lots of plants. The home has a white base but doesn’t feel ‘cold’ at all because of the ‘urban jungle’ vibe.

She owns a lot of beautiful vintage items and is very good in restyling/ repainting/restoring them.

The toys-storage wall unit is my favorite piece of her interior. It used to be a storage wall from a shop to store fruits & vegetables but she painted it white to match with her interior.

Her green Jieldé lamp and her set of green Muuto lights above her table are part of my love for her interior.

Our last day in Copenhagen… ohhh how we loved this holiday…Today...

Our last day in Copenhagen… ohhh how we loved this holiday…

Today we walked around and did some shopping, we bought the Kinfolk home book at Dansk and a lot of really beautiful succulents in a flowershop in Vesterbrogade, the misses received a big -small- present from the boyfriend for her first ‘mothersday’ and we had some really nice conversations with friendly shopholders. We had the sun on our side again so we felt blessed to be outside.  We could tell the Copenhagers were happy to feel the sun after a very long period of grey days as well. Everybody was literally enjoying the fresh air & sun. (again!)

At noon we went back to the appartement to start packing our bags and to prepare the baby-lunch for our way back to Belgium.  After the baby nap we went to Nyhavn the touristic centre of Copenhagen. It felt like a mix of ‘de Beenhouwerstraat with de Graslei & a general Amsterdam touch.

We passed the Ferm Living pop up shop (it’s open because they are celebrating their 10th anniversary from 6-28th of May 2016) & had dinner in Jaggers a very high class fast food restaurant with a very beautiful interior!

Once we arrived back at the Airbnb a slightly sad emotion ran thru our hearts & minds. The week passed by much to fast, just like all good things also this holiday came to an end to soon. But we’ll be back, just like Schwarzenegger.

Since we are still looking/renovating our #myexboyfriendstore in...

Since we are still looking/renovating our #myexboyfriendstore in Mechelen, it’s kinda lonely for me to work all by myself at home. I miss having colleagues, i miss having a chat and a laugh and also sometimes I don’t really manage to work consequent on our own projects. (Which is kinda frustrating when you are your own boss…)

So…A few months ago I drove by a big building at the Schaarbeeklei in Vilvoorde and it made me smile because the name of the industry-building was ‘Firma’. (Company in english?) The look of the logo already made me assume a nice project was rising in my neighbourhood. *Feeling excited over here!

I then again forgot about it but yesterday it appeared on my Instagram timeline.
(One of my friends followed a workshop here…) and I was intrigued by this new place with the pretty Instagram account! I checked their website for more info and apparently they organize free co-work Fridays -Hooray for ending my lonely-workdays at home maybe?- As some kind of test case for people who are not sure about co-working. (Yes, that’s me!)

This morning almost felt like I was going to my ‘new’ school…
(*awwwwkward… ;))

Once arrived, Anne from the blog + creative design agency Baroness O gave me a tour (since this building belongs to her family) and my fear (if i would make friends (*hihi) disappeared! It’s such an inspiring place with very friendly & creative people! (And it’s right next to my door!)

They organize inspiring workshops, have an amazing event space , at the end of April they will open a lunch space called ‘Cantina’ … they have ateliers (for all woodworkers & handy people!) AND they have an industrial-designed co-workingspace! For all you lonely entrepreneurs just like me… Check it out!

On their website you can find this info:
“FIRMA IS A NEW PUBLIC SPACE DEDICATED TO CREATING AND MAKING, LOCATED RIGHT NEXT TO THE BRUSSELS CANAL.”

“We dedicate over 2000 m2 to shared workshops, machines, tools, storage, studios, deskspace and an onsite café.
FIRMA is an affordable and flexible workspace built for independent makers, designers and small creative businesses.”

Sometimes, we have customers who aren’t happy anymore but who are...

Sometimes, we have customers who aren’t happy anymore but who are just cheering about our stuff. Imagine this really ‘happy, in-love-with-life & life-in-love-with-them’ couple with two kids. They discovered our website some time ago and in a few months they already ordered 10 items. (Excuse me if I counted wrong…)

They recently emailed us a few pictures and we just love their modern meets vintage style in their home. You can feel the love in their home don’t you think?

Anyway, thanks for all those purchases and for sending us these pictures!

Big Kisses, K&B
