Mounted on a Plakkaat, a brand new carrier made of a stack of paper with dusted pink and black accents
The four-part series ‘Love For The Flesh’ is about vulnerability. “The intimacy of two bodies, absorbed with and merged into one another with absolutely no focus on gender or body standards. It represents what matters most: the simple and basic idea of ‘love for the flesh’.”
“I love a-typical bodies in non-conventional and humorous settings. To shock in presenting pornographic, taboo-like images, that are alienating and at the same time very recognizable. [Make sure to check Sophies other work with Quiet Company!] I like to tease you with the struggle of looking (away). I want to inspire you to try and feel comfortable to step out of society’s expectations and to be open to different experiences, identities and situations.”
Each Love For The Flesh is presented on a Plakkaat, a brand new way of hanging art by means of ancient bookbinding techniques. The idea by Katrien Annys (of jacquesbooks.be) was carefully executed by Nancy & Petra from manual bookbindery Boekgebonden.
